IaaS (Infrastructure-as-a-Service) is a cloud service that gives customers access to an instantly usable, highly scalable IT infrastructure via the internet. Storage, management and maintenance of the underlying hardware fall entirely within the provider's remit. Clients can access and store data on servers via a dashboard or API (application programming interface). A typical cost billing model for IaaS offerings is pay-per-use, where customers only pay for what they have actually used.
