Extended Reality, also called Cross Reality (XR for short), is an umbrella term for technologies that create computer-generated environments or objects. This term includes both already developed and future established forms of XR.
The various technologies differ and are defined primarily by the relationship between the real and virtual worlds. While users perceive virtual objects as an extension of the real world in augmented reality, users immerse themselves in a purely virtual world through the use of virtual reality.
Another essential feature of the extended reality definition is that all forms are immersive (virtual environment is perceived as real) technology.
