Ceramic materials consist of ceramic powders, organic binder and liquid and are inorganic, non-metallic and polycrystalline. Technical ceramics are used in medical technology, hot applications, combustion engines, as ceramic (power) capacitors, as insulating materials, as filters, and in bearing and sealing technology.

Ceramics are divided into the material groups silicate, oxide, non-oxide and piezoceramics. Production is divided into the steps of powder preparation, shaping and firing, i.e. the raw mass formed at room temperature is then sintered at high temperatures. Ceramics are recycled by mixing previously crushed waste materials with the fresh raw materials.
