Recycled concrete

Recycled concrete

In the production of recycled concrete, the natural raw materials are partially or completely replaced by processed construction waste. The DAfStb guideline Concrete according to DIN EN 206-1 and DIN 1045-2 with recycled aggregates according to DIN EN 12620 regulates the use of RC grain in concrete formulations.

Compared to the neighbouring German countries, Belgium, the Netherlands and Switzerland, recycled concrete is currently little used in Germany. For a sensible use, it is necessary that the transport routes of the concrete from the processing site to the concrete plant are as short as possible. In addition, more disposal plants must be created that provide recycled aggregates for RC concrete.

Prerequisites for use:

Disposal plant:

  • A waste management company must be found that offers recycled aggregate for the production of concrete.

Suitable concrete mix:

  • A suitable amount of cement, plasticisers and superplasticisers must be added to the recycled aggregate.
