Printing electronics on paper makes the process an environmentally friendly and cost-effective alternative compared to other carrier materials. The miniaturised and low-cost electronic labels are able to monitor transport and logistics or provide forgery-proof information about the origin and authenticity of products. The printed electronics on paper were developed by a European consortium with eleven partners in the SUPERSMART project over a period of three years and scaled up to mass production. The feasibility to date is in a roll-to-roll process.
