Wood varnish technology

Wood varnish technology

Coatings usually consist of binders such as resins, dispersions or emulsions, fillers, pigments, solvents, and additives such as biocides. The most important lacquer technologies are solvent-based systems followed by water-based lacquers, high-solids, radiation curing and powder lacquers. Lacquers protect the wood material, decorate it, e.g. through certain colour effects, or give the material certain functions, such as altered electrical conductivity. Since each piece of wood is individual, it is often a special challenge to lacquer wood.

Conditions for use:

Environmental conditions

  • It is necessary to know what environmental conditions one's own materials are exposed to in order to choose a suitable protection.
  • It is necessary to know where the wood material will be used in order to create appropriate decorative effects.
  • It is necessary to know where the wood-based material is used in order to create appropriate functions.
