The term Building Information Modelling describes a working method for the networked planning, construction and management of buildings (civil engineering) with the help of software. All relevant building data is digitally modelled, combined and recorded. The structure is also geometrically visualised as a virtual model (digital twin). In addition to planning aspects, this approach also offers many possibilities and great advantages in the further development of resource-efficient circular economy in the construction industry. For example, the data generated by BIM can be used to describe buildings as secondary raw material sources in detail and to use them more efficiently.
