Welcome to Oelde!

In Oelde you have THE GOOD LIFE between a colourful cultural programme and the green Münsterland park landscape. The approximately 30,000 inhabitants live in the town centre and three smaller districts.

Münsterland meets East Westphalia

Oelde is located in the district of Warendorf and borders on the region of East Westphalia. It takes about half an hour to get to Bielefeld by car, for example, and about an hour to Münster and Münster/Osnabrück Airport (FMO). Paderborn/Lippstadt Airport is just as easy to reach. The district town of Warendorf is half an hour away.

Regional trains run from Oelde station to Münster, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Dortmund, Hamm and Bielefeld.

Tip: Münsterland is a cycling region! 4,500 kilometres of cycle paths offer you almost unlimited possibilities in the city and in the countryside: you can commute to work comfortably by bike and go on great tours with friends and family.

Living in Oelde

Oelde consists of the town centre, the districts of Lette, Stromberg and Sünninghausen as well as a few rural hamlets. Most of the almost 30,000 inhabitants live in the main town, around 5,000 in the south-eastern district of Stromberg, which is home to a pilgrimage church and the ruins of a hilltop castle. The district of Lette, which is home to around 2,300 people, lies to the north of the town centre. Sünninghausen is the smallest district with around 1300 inhabitants and lies to the south of the town centre. As in Stromberg, new residential areas have also been built in Sünninghausen in recent years.

Even though rental and purchase prices are following the general property trend overall, there are still numerous niches to be discovered in Münsterland when it comes to building, buying or renting. Here you can find the average purchase and rental prices for a house or flat in rural areas of Münsterland.

For tenants, the city council has compiled information on the current rent index.

Crazy: The Stromberg soapbox team organises a big soapbox race in the town every summer. The team's drivers have also made it to the podium at German championships and international competitions.
