In Rosendahl, THE GOOD LIFE in the countryside meets good transport connections. The approximately 11,000 inhabitants of the municipality live in the districts of Osterwick, Darfeld and Holtwick.
Rosendahl is located about 45 minutes by car west of Münster in the district of Coesfeld, on the edge of the hilly landscape of the Baumberge. The district town of Coesfeld borders the municipality in the south and can be reached in 15 minutes by car. It takes about 40 minutes to get to Münster/Osnabrück Airport (FMO) and a good hour to Dortmund. The Dutch city of Enschede is about 50 minutes away, and the A31 motorway takes you to the North Sea coastin two and a half hours.
A plus for commuters: from the railway station in Holtwick you can travel to Coesfeld, Dortmund and Enschede, among other places.
Tip: Münsterland is a cycling region! 4,500 kilometres of cycle paths offer you almost unlimited possibilities in the city and in the countryside: you can commute to work comfortably by bike and go on great tours with friends and family.
The municipality advertises with the slogan "Three villages to feel good in". In fact, Rosendahl does not have a classic centre, but is made up of three districts of roughly equal size: Osterwick, Darfeld and Holtwick. Just under 5,000 of the 11,000 inhabitants live in the centrally located village of Osterwick, around 3,500 in Holtwick to the west and just under 3,000 in Darfeld, which lies to the east of Osterwick.

The people of Rosendahl are the most sporty in the entire Coesfeld district: almost every second person is registered in one of the sports clubs, and new members join every year. In the statistics of the district sports association, the town has been in first place for years.
In all three villages there is at least one supermarket where you can buy groceries and everything for everyday life. On the main street of Osterwick there are several cafés, pubs and restaurants, as well as the branch of a large clothing chain. If you prefer to explore the Münsterland by bike or e-bike, you can get all kinds of accessories for your tour in several bike shops.
You will find more shopping opportunities in nearby Coesfeld and in the popular Designer Outlet Ochtrup, which is only half an hour away by car.
There are around eight nurseries and daycare centres in Rosendahl. Three of these are located in Holtwick, three in Osterwick and two in Darfeld.
A primary school is located in each of the three districts of Rosendahl, so that the youngest pupils have short distances to travel. The town's secondary school is a site of the secondary school Legden Rosendahl in Osterwick.
Secondary schools, grammar schools and vocational colleges are located in neighbouring Coesfeld. All support associations and schools are presented on the community page.
Darfeld, Holtwick and Osterwick each offer space for industrial and other companies with a business park. Small and medium-sized companies from various sectors have settled here, for example plastics manufacturers, metal construction and mechanical engineering companies. In addition, a number of craft enterprises are located in the area.
