Welcome to Senden!

The 21,000 inhabitants of Senden enjoy THE GOOD LIFE with many sporting and cultural activities in the immediate vicinity of the Westphalian metropolis of Münster. The municipality consists of four districts of different sizes.

Southwest of Münster in the district of Coesfeld

The municipality of Senden (Westphalia) borders on Münster to the southwest, and Münster city centre is only about 20 minutes away by car. You can reach Münster's city centre in 30 minutes with the ExpressBus X90. You can reach Münster/Osnabrück Airport (FMO) almost as quickly, and the district town of Coesfeld is also only half an hour away. In the south, you can quickly reach the Ruhr area; Dortmund, for example, is only 50 minutes away by car. In the northwest, you can drive just over an hour to the popular Dutch city of Enschede.

Tip for commuters:From the station in the Bösensell district, you can take regional trains to Münster and Essen. You want to travel to another destination but don't have your own car? Then rent one from the car sharing provider Stadtteilauto. Two vehicles are available for rent in the immediate vicinity of the bus station.

Tip: Münsterland is a cycling region! 4,500 kilometres of cycle paths offer you almost unlimited possibilities in the city and in the countryside: you can commute to work comfortably by bike and go on great tours with friends and family.

Living in Senden

Around 14,000 of the municipality's 21,000 inhabitants live in the main town of Senden. Around 3,500 people live in the Ottmarsbocholt district, which is just under ten minutes to the south-west. The district of Bösensell is a ten-minute drive north of the town centre and is home to around 2,800 people. Fun fact about this district: because so many furniture stores have settled in Bösensell, the district is also nicknamed "Möbelsell". The small village of Venne, which also belongs to the municipality, is located to the east of the town centre and consists of a few individual farms and houses.

Even though rental and purchase prices are following the general property trend overall, there are still numerous niches to be discovered in Münsterland when building, buying or renting. Here you can find the average purchase and rental prices for a house or flat in rural Münsterland.

If you would like to build a house in Senden, Bösensell or Ottmarsbocholt, you can find out about building areas with building plots here. If you would like to rent a flat, you can find the current rent index on the website of the municipality of Senden.

We tested the Grothues-Potthoff farm shop for you

Our colleague Victoria Lennerz and our colleague Philipp Fölting were on site in Senden and took a look around the Grothues-Potthoff farm shop. After a short walk across the grounds, they treat themselves to delicious cake on the sun terrace of the farm café. Afterwards they inspect the assortment in the farm shop. You can read all about their experiences and lots of background information on MünsterlandBlog.
