Between Münster, Dortmund and Hamm

Werne is located about 35 minutes by car south of Münster on the border between Münsterland and the Ruhr area. It takes about 40 minutes to drive to Dortmund and about 25 minutes to Hamm. Bielefeld in East Westphalia and Düsseldorf in the Rhineland are just over an hour away.
Regional trains run from Werne station to Münster and Dortmund. Münster/Osnabrück Airport (FMO) is 40 minutes away by car.

Tip: Münsterland is a cycling region! 4,500 kilometres of cycle paths offer you almost unlimited possibilities in the city and in the countryside: you can commute to work comfortably by bike and go on great tours with friends and family.

Living in Werne

Most of Werne's 30,000 inhabitants live in the extensive housing estates around the historic town centre. Around 5,000 people live in the Stockum district to the east, which also includes the two rural villages of Horst and Wessel . The River Lippe and the Datteln-Hamm Canal flow to the south of Werne and Stockum, with the green Lippe meadows stretching out between them.
