Münsterland Innovation Award 2023/24: The winners

95 applications submitted, 15 nominees and six winners: the Münsterland Innovation Award 2023/24 was presented on 11 June 2024, this year under the motto "Progress. Innovative. Shape. The Münsterland thinks ahead.". Once again, particularly creative and innovative developments from the Münsterland were honoured in the categories "Business", "Science meets business", "Start-up", "Small and smart" and "Digital business models". In addition, the "Transformation Award | Sustainability Impact" was awarded for the first time as a special prize.

The award ceremony took place at maakwi GmbH in Heek. Find out more about the award winners and their interesting innovations on the following pages.

Six winners in five categories + special prize

  • Category "Start-up": Two great innovations were convincing here. The WI-SNSPDs (waveguide-integrated superconducting nanowire single photon detectors) from Pixel Photonics GmbH from Münster and "CatFlux", a completely new type of in-vitro diagnostic, from Truion GmbH, also from Münster.
  • Category "Digital Business Models": With its innovation "SmartSustain", Eucon Digital GmbH from Münster has developed an AI-based tool that not only processes property consumption data transparently, but also shows where there is potential for savings.
  • Category "Science meets business": The autonomous mobile robot "Feldfreund" from Zauberzeug GmbH from Havixbeck is a highly modular, AI-supported agricultural robot with a CO2-neutral drive. It makes weeding, sowing, inspecting, processing, analysing and harvesting easy!
  • Category "Economy": Unusual idea, great effect: thanks to NovaFlex SharkSkin, a self-adhesive artificial sharkskin film, paraffin consumption and CO2 emissions from aeroplanes can be reduced. The innovation was developed by BASF Coatings GmbH from Münster.
  • Category "Small and smart": With "Bear-Cut", Bear-Machines GmbH from Heek has created the first semi-automatic tyre regrooving machine - a machine that did not exist in this form before.
  • Special prize "Transformation Award | Sustainability Impact": This prize also went to Zauberzeug GmbH from Heek and its "field friend".
