Plenty to talk about: Service Onboarding@Münsterland invites newcomers to the LWL Museum Textilwerk in Bocholt

Newcomers to the Münsterland took a tour of the LWL Museum Textilwerk on Wednesday evening in Bocholt. While visiting the two museum sites, the spinning mill and the weaving mill, the 20 or so participants exchanged ideas with like-minded people. The Onboarding@Münsterland service of Münsterland e.V., which welcomes newcomers and returnees to the region, had invited them to get to know each other together with the Wirtschaftsförderungs- und Stadtmarketinggesellschaft Bocholt.

At the beginning, Ludger Dieckhues, Managing Director of Economic Development/City Marketing, reported on the city and its important industrial culture, before Museum Director Dr Hermann Josef Stenkamp guided the group through the former Herding spinning mill. For a long time, it was one of Bocholt's largest textile companies. Today, the museum presents exhibitions on fashion and the technology of yesteryear in the brick building erected in 1907. On the roof terrace of the spinning mill, the participants were then offered a completely new perspective on town and country. Afterwards, they experienced how centuries-old looms work in the weaving mill. After the tour, they went to the Schiffchen restaurant for a cosy evening.

"The textile factory in Bocholt proved to be just the right place for our welcome event," said Paulina Wittich, project manager of the Onboarding@Münsterland service of Münsterland e.V. "It was a meeting full of surprises - with an exciting journey of discovery and good conversations until late in the evening."

From her home in Reken to the Textilwerk came Maren, who is one of the returnees. "My husband and I used to live in Cologne and after the birth of our daughter we wanted to live more rurally and closer to our family. We have been happily back in Münsterland for three months now," the 34-year-old told us. Participation in the welcome event was recommended to her by friends. "The tour showed me interesting and unknown sides of a city that is actually familiar. Getting to know many new and different people was very nice and entertaining.

In November, the Onboarding@Münsterland service of Münsterland e.V. invites you to a welcome event at the Münsterland Festival in Telgte. Information on the dates and insights into past events can be found at www.muensterland.com/willkommensevents.
