Applications for the Münsterland Media Prize 2023 now open

Name change: Journalism Prize is now called Media Prize

MÜNSTERLAND. Journalism in all its forms plays a decisive role in shaping the face, character and perception of a region. The Münsterland Media Award therefore honours good journalism and outstanding media reporting on exciting regional topics. Previously called the "Münsterland Journalism Award", the prize has grown and developed with its prize winners. The new title "Münsterland Media Prize" takes account of the changes in the media landscape.

With the award, Münsterland e.V. and the Münster-Münsterland Press Association, together with Sparkasse Münsterland Ost as sponsor, honour the best media contributions from the region, about the region and about people in the region. This year, for the first time, the motto is "Colourful Münsterland". The first prize is endowed with 3000 euros, the second with 2000 euros and the third with 1000 euros.

Anyone who has researched a special contribution to the Münsterland, creatively presented a topic from the region or accompanied people with a connection to the Münsterland in an exciting journalistic way can apply now for the Münsterland Media Prize. The deadline for applications is 31 July 2023.

We are looking for background reports, portraits, reports, interviews, commentaries, photos or other graphic elements. There are no restrictions on format; new concepts and forms of presentation are just as welcome as classic print, TV, online or audio contributions. Critical contributions as well as contributions that focus on the beautiful sides of the Münsterland and its people will be awarded.

Entries are open to editors, journalists, press offices, PR agencies, influencers and bloggers. The contributions must have been published between 1 July 2020 and 31 December 2022 and have a connection to Münsterland. Applications are possible until 31 July exclusively online at www.muensterland.com/medienpreis.

"In the course of digitalisation, our world is changing and with it journalistic work. What remains constant is the need of media users for orientation in their respective environments. With their daily work, journalists help us to keep track of an enormous number of topics and to form our own opinions. The media prize is a sign of appreciation for this important social task with a special focus on its significance for our region. As a savings bank, we are happy to support this," says Klaus Richter, Chairman of the Board of Sparkasse Münsterland Ost.

"Regional reporting is something special," emphasises Klaus Ehling, Chairman of Münsterland e.V. "We want to honour this with the Münsterland Media Award. Keywords such as variety, future, diversity, community or club life are reflected in this year's motto 'Colourful Münsterland' and leave room for interpretation and good journalism. We are looking forward to exciting contributions!"

Wolfram Linke, Chairman of the Press Association Münster-Münsterland e.V., emphasises: "In the last call for entries alone, 138 journalists submitted 205 contributions. This number proves the diversity of journalism in the region as well as the high recognition the prize enjoys."

All information on the competition as well as the complete call for entries is available at www.muensterland.com/medienpreis.
