Employers in Münsterland position themselves in the competition for skilled workers

Meeting of the employer network Onboarding@Münsterland at Hengst Filtration with around 50 participants.

It was all about trust, new work and coworking, jobs for Ukrainian refugees and skilled workers from abroad in general - and in between there was time for networking and genuine encounters: Around 50 employers from the Münsterland region met on Wednesday at Hengst Filtration in Münster to exchange professional and personal ideas. The invitation was extended by the Onboarding@Münsterland service of Münsterland e.V., whose employer network has existed since 2020 and has now grown to over 120 members. The service supports employers in employer branding and location marketing as well as skilled workers in arriving, feeling good and staying here in the region.

"For the first time since the start of the Corona pandemic, we were able to invite the network members to an analogue meeting and, in addition to exciting input, give them the chance to get to know each other and exchange ideas in real life and not just through the camera," emphasised Monika Leiking, head of the Onboarding@Münsterland service at Münsterland e.V. "This is of enormous importance in the competition for skilled workers. Because at best, employers see securing skilled workers as a joint task and promote Münsterland as an attractive place to work and live, united and with one voice."

Among other things, the impulse lecture by business psychologist Eva Schulte-Austum on the topic of trust met with great interest among the employers present. "Trust is an important success factor, both for the cooperation of members in the employer network and in the recruitment and retention of skilled workers," she said. The speaker showed how employers can win people over, shape relationships successfully and build a culture of trust.

Afterwards, the attendees intensified their exchange at the four topic tables. Following the workshop method of the World Café, they discussed current and professional topics: One of the topics was jobs for Ukrainian refugees. In smaller groups, the employers exchanged problems and challenges and were accompanied by expert Petra Freiberg, co-founder of the job platform Jobmine. "We want to bring Ukrainian refugees and companies together. Because a job can give the refugees back a bit of normality. With our matching, we meet the challenge for employers to correctly assess the skills and abilities of the applicants," said Freiberg.

The host company Hengst Filtration has been a member of the employer network Onboarding@Münsterland since its launch and described it as an important building block in the competition for skilled workers: "In the exchange within the network, we can jointly find solutions to counteract the shortage of skilled workers in the region," emphasised Tim Klieve, responsible for human resources development at Hengst Filtration.

Employers from all sectors can become members of the network and thus secure a wide range of benefits: more visibility, support in location marketing, exclusive networking and specialist events, a personal advisory service for applicants, welcome events for new employees and campaigns for skilled workers.
