Training 2022 still possible in the district of Warendorf: NRW training programme promotes additional places

Regionalagentur Münsterland informs: SBH West offers young people and companies the chance of training this year with subsidies

Bringing young people and companies together: This is the goal of the NRW training programme, which promotes around 1,000 additional training places each year. Although there are still apprenticeship places to be filled in some regions at the start of training in 2022, there are rural regions in particular where demand is higher than supply - including in the district of Warendorf. The SBH West, which as a regional company of the Education & Crafts Foundation is committed to equal opportunities in North Rhine-Westphalia, informs companies in the region about the promotion of additional training places. At the same time, it supports young people who are now still looking for a suitable training place. The companies receive a subsidy of 325 euros per month for 24 months for the training places.

Alexandra Poppenborg from the Münsterland Regional Agency at Münsterland e.V. knows: "With the programme, young people and companies have a good chance of still getting into training." And so she makes an appeal to companies: "Create additional places, that way you can secure your own junior staff and new skilled workers." The Münsterland Regional Agency is part of the Ministry of Labour, Health and Social Affairs of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia (MAGS) and acts as an interface between the ministry and the region to support local stakeholders and companies.

"We are glad that we can offer the NRW training programme to bring young people and companies together in a perfect fit," says Michael Willems, training advisor at SBH West. The close cooperation with the job centre and the vocational counselling service of the Ahlen-Münster employment agency also guarantees the success of the training programme. "The training programme is a good way to get started professionally. After making contact with the company, young people can prove their strengths during a work placement. This is also the case at the Liekenbröcker company in Beckum, where Justin is now being trained as a tile, slab and mosaic layer. He will start in his dream job on 01.09.2022," reports Willems. He believes that even after the summer holidays, some young people will still be without an apprenticeship position. "It is important to approach them and signal to them that they can turn to us," says the expert. "We also want to approach schools or vocational colleges to show the young people who would like to be in an apprenticeship that there is still something going on for this year."

The programme also offers companies further assistance, be it in administrative matters or in concrete operational problems related to training. Both full-time and part-time training is funded, and the procedure is kept simple for the companies. It is important that the training place offered is additional, for example, if the company has not yet provided training or has not provided training for at least four years, or if the company has concluded more training contracts with participation in the programme than the average of the last four years. The programme is financed by the European Social Fund.

And there are other support programmes that help with training: "With the 'assisted training' programme, young people also have the opportunity to receive tutoring and support if, for example, their grades at vocational school are rather mixed," says Alexandra Poppenborg.

Interested companies as well as young people can contact SBH West: Michael Willems, 02382 88999-18, michael.willems@sbh-west.de. The Employment Agency and the Job Centre are also available for advice.

Further information on the NRW training programme:

In NRW, the training market is characterised by great regional differences. Often there is an oversupply of training places in cities, whereas in rural regions the supply is often well below the demand. For young people with limited opportunities on the training market, it is all the more difficult to find a training place in these regions. To compensate for the regional differences, the state government has launched the "NRW Training Programme" in those regions where the ratio of applicants to training places is unfavourable. This also includes the district of Warendorf.
