On a daily route of around 150 kilometres, the racing cyclists collected 38,000 euros in donations for children in need at the 13th RennFietsen Tour Münsterland. "The amount raised is outstanding - after a successful weekend and almost 600 kilometres covered, we are very pleased with this result," said tour leader Joachim Wechner last Sunday when announcing the amount raised by the RennFietsen Tour Münsterland 2022. From 26 to 29 May, around 40 male and female racing cyclists were out and about in the region every day, "making kilometres" for a good cause. With each kilometre ridden, donations were collected for the two aid organisations Stiftung AGAPEDIA and roterkeil.net, totalling 38,000 euros.
After last year's RennFietsen Tour had to take place partly virtually and on their own, the participants now cycled together again for a good cause. On four day tours, the tour guides led them in small groups through the Münsterland region. The Leonardo Campus in Münster was the starting point and destination of the tours. On the penultimate evening, the cyclists met there for a small barbecue in a cosy atmosphere.
Joachim Wechner: "Even though we could not return to the original format with different stages including overnight stays this year, all athletes participated in the day tours with great motivation. Some even took part on several days. One hundred percent of the donations will go to the two aid organisations Stiftung AGAPEDIA and roterkeil.net for children in need. With a donation total of 38,000 euros, we can make a helping contribution."
Münsterland e.V. was also able to contribute a part in addition to the organisation: it donated new waistcoats in RennFietsen design for the participants, the proceeds went into the donation total. "We are happy about this successful tour and are glad that we were able to support the tour financially as well as visually with the waistcoats," said Kerstin Clev from the organisation team at Münsterland e.V.
Many beautiful impressions of the tour days can still be seen on the Facebook channel @Rennfietsentour.
The tour was organised by the cycling teams AGAPEDIA Münsterland and Roter Keil Senden in cooperation with Münsterland e.V. Westenergie AG supported the RennFietsen Tour 2022 as main sponsor.
