BioWochen NRW 2024: Events centred around local organic products

Eco-model region Münsterland calls on companies to participate

The NRW Organic Weeks are just around the corner: from 24 August to 8 September, organic farms, market gardens, processing companies and specialist organic retailers will be opening their doors and gates for the state-wide consumer campaign. The Münsterland model eco-region is also calling on businesses and suppliers from the region to become part of BioWochen NRW 2024.

"The campaign offers the perfect opportunity to present commitment and products to a wide audience and showcase the diversity of organic businesses. Participation is a unique opportunity to bring your own work and the quality of your products closer to an interested audience," emphasises Juliane Rabe, project manager of the Münsterland organic model region at Münsterland e.V.

The BioWochen NRW offer a varied programme - from farm festivals, farm tours, cultural events, educational events, organic show cooking, field and farm tours to potato harvests, tasting events, school class tours and special events in canteens, restaurants and organic specialist shops.

Some events have already been organised for the Münsterland region: for example, a guided tour of the Schwienheer farm in Sassenberg or an enjoyable walk through the fields of the Schulze Buschhoff organic farm in Münster. Stadt und Land e.V. in NRW is offering a training course for teachers in Altenberge, while Camphill Sellen gGmbH is organising an open day in Steinfurt.

The initiators of the state-wide campaign are the organic farming associations Bioland, Biokreis, Demeter and Naturland as well as the NRW Chamber of Agriculture. The campaign is supported by the Ministry of Agriculture and Consumer Protection of North Rhine-Westphalia.

Organic farms that would like to find out more about the state-wide campaign or take part can find valuable tips, comprehensive information, direct contacts and the opportunity to register online at www.biowochen-nrw.de.

About the Münsterland model eco-region

The four districts of Münsterland and the city of Münster work together with the NRW Chamber of Agriculture and the LEADER regions in the joint project "Öko-Modellregion Münsterland". Under the leadership of Münsterland e.V., the project aims to increase the proportion of bioregionally produced products in the fields, on supermarket shelves, on canteen plates and in shopping baskets. The project is funded by the Ministry of Agriculture and Consumer Protection of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
