Discover your Münsterland" bursary: Journalists' trip through the (cultural) region

With pen, camera or mobile phone through the cultural landscape: "Discover your Münsterland" is looking for German-speaking journalists for the third time who will immerse themselves in the rhythm of life of the Münsterlanders for seven days, track down cultural experiences in the city and countryside and report on them. The deadline for applications for this promotion of young journalists is 31 July.

Together with the Haus Busch Journalism Centre, the Münster-Münsterland Press Association and the sponsor Sparkasse Münsterland Ost, Münsterland e.V. is looking for six young journalists up to the age of 35 to go on a discovery tour from 4 to 11 October 2019. This year, the focus will be on the cultural landscape of Münsterland, because with over 170 museums and exhibition halls, large and small concert halls, stages for readings or seminars, Münsterland has an extraordinarily high density of cultural institutions and cultural experience venues. And all this in the midst of lush meadows and mighty hedgerows.

"The basic principle of the Young Journalists Programme: We Münsterlanders simply let foreign observers show us the treasures and remarkable aspects that we might overlook locally. Thus, I am already looking forward to many interesting stories around my home of many years, which will once again demonstrate how diverse Münsterland is," says Markus Schabel, Chairman of the Board of Sparkasse Münsterland Ost.

Conditions: Applicants should be full-time journalists - whether working in an editorial office, freelance or as a blogger. Their residence and place of work must be outside Münsterland. The programme includes three workshops on journalistic forms of presentation such as interview, reportage and portrait. Participants receive a travel allowance of 700 euros.
