Securing funding for new cultural projects: "Regional Cultural Policy" programme awards grants

Application possible until 30 September

MÜNSTERLAND. Anyone who already has a good idea for a new cultural project in mind can apply for financial support from the state programme "Regional Cultural Policy". Project applications can be submitted until 30 September. The programme is particularly looking for projects that meet the criteria of cooperation and networking. Advice from the Münsterland Cultural Office, which assists with project planning and filling out the online form, is obligatory and helpful.

"The funding programme is a good chance to realise ideas," says Andre Sebastian, head of the Münsterland Cultural Office. "It's also often easier to do this together than alone. That's why an important funding criterion is cooperation: you need three partners from at least two municipalities."

The regional cultural policy also gives priority to funding projects and measures that support the cultural profile of the cultural region. Typical of culture in the Münsterland are the areas of tension between tradition and modernity, town and country or down-to-earthness and innovation.

Applications are invited not only from private individuals but also from creative clubs, associations, municipalities, institutions and independent organisations.

Exemplary projects that were funded in 2021 are the theatre production "KING'S MEN play HAMLET", the exhibition project "KunstOrt MünsterLand #VIELFALT", the sound art festival "Soundseeing" or the dance piece for children aged 7 and older "TURBOGIGAMANIPOWERISTISCH".

A special feature of the funding as of this year: "In addition to the actual project application, so-called supplementary funds for accessibility can be applied for," explains Andre Sebastian. "Whether interpreting into sign language, audio description or the barrier-free design of communication media - project-related measures that enable people with a disability to participate in cultural life can be subsidised with up to 5,000 euros per cultural project."

Those who are still looking for support with the appropriate wording can also come to the "Kulturakademie" event in Dülmen on Wednesday, 1 September, where the topic will be "Writing good applications".

Further Information

Since 1997, the "Regional Cultural Policy" programme has been funding projects that strengthen communication and cooperation between creators and those responsible in NRW's cultural regions, combine forces, network and enhance the identity and attractiveness of the region. The state funding amounts to a maximum of 50 percent of the total expenditure. In Münsterland, the Cultural Council discusses the project ideas submitted. If it makes a recommendation, a formal application can be submitted to the Münster district government.
