From school to culture: voluntary social year available at the Münsterland e.V. Cultural Office

MÜNSTERLAND. Support at the music festival, network with artists and implement your own projects: Starting in September, young adults up to 27 years of age will once again have the opportunity to complete a voluntary social year (FSJ) at the Cultural Office. Exciting insights into the working world and a monthly allowance await them. Applications are open until 15 March via the Volunteer Services Culture and Education portal.

"At the beginning, I thought I would only be allowed to copy and make coffee. I realised right on the first day that this was not reality," recalls Anna-Ida Almus, a former FSJ volunteer at the Cultural Office. Nils Fischer, who started his FSJ at the Kulturbüro in 2019, also says: "My year at the Kulturbüro was so varied that I never saw the inside of the office for more than a few days at a time." What else the two experienced and did, they tell in interviews, read at www.muensterland.com/fsj-kultur.

"With us, FSJers can get to know not just one area, but art and cultural workers from many sectors," says Simone Schiffer, project manager at the Münsterland e.V. cultural office. "Together we look for their interests and strengths and support them with their own project. Anything from social media strategy to podcast is possible."

The tasks of the cultural office and thus also of the future team member include: networking, coordinating, promoting, advising people involved in art and culture, accompanying projects and campaigns with press and public relations work, maintaining the website www.muensterland.com/kultur as well as the social media channels. The future FSJer will also be involved in the organisation of events, whether Münsterland Festival, artist exchange, regulars' table or literature residency.

The FSJ lasts one year and starts on 1 September. For more information and to hear about the experiences of Nils Fischer and Anna-Ida Almus at the Münsterland e.V. cultural office, visit www.muensterland.com/fsj-kultur. Interested persons can apply until 15 March at https://freiwilligendienste-kultur-bildung.de .
