Regional food in focus: Münsterland at the International Green Week

The Münsterland as a region to feel good in, where sociable togetherness and cultivated experience are part of the attitude to life: This is how the region will present itself at the International Green Week (IGW) in Berlin from 17 January (Friday). Under the motto "North Rhine-Westphalia City.Country.River. the state of North Rhine-Westphalia will be exhibiting at the IGW from 17 to 26 January 2020 - Münsterland e.V. will also be present at the joint stand, highlighting the best food and tourist highlights from the region. With around 400,000 visitors, the trade fair is one of the world's most important exhibitions for the food, agriculture and horticulture sectors.

For the first time, the Münsterland region will be presenting itself at the IGW in a new look: the Münsterland stand will feature the new region logo and the new claim "MÜNSTERLAND. THE GOOD LIFE. As ambassadors of the Münsterland, various restaurateurs and producers from the food industry will be tasting their products and providing information at the Münsterland stand on a daily basis. They will also present typical dishes and popular products on the NRW stage.
"The way to a man's heart is through his stomach. Food and drink connects and is an important part of the identity of our region. There are therefore hardly any better brand ambassadors for the Münsterland than the products, producers from the region," emphasises Klaus Ehling, Chairman of Münsterland e.V..

For example, the distillery Schulze Rötering (Ahlen) and Beckschulte Spirituosen GmbH (Havixbeck) will present spirits produced with the best craftsmanship. Gasthof Willenbrink from Lippetal offers a "shot cure" and cooks on the NRW stage with original grain from the Schulze Westerhoff farm (Havixbeck). The butcher's shop Laschke (Heek) and the delicatessen Hidding (Nordwalde) also present regional specialities such as Westphalian bone-in ham. All these businesses belong to the Münsterland Quality Network. Companies in the food industry and catering businesses from the Münsterland have joined forces in this association to promote products grown and produced in the region. These are labelled with the Münsterland seal, which serves as a guide when shopping or visiting a restaurant. The network will also be represented at the Münsterland stand during the ten-day fair.

The Münsterland programme at the stand and on the NRW stage will be rounded off with various creations from the Hafenkäserei Münster.

The annual consumer fair is also an important forum for the region's tourist products. Münsterland e.V. informs visitors to the fair in particular about the region's great strengths: castles and palaces, cycling, horse riding and picnics. Various free publications on display at the stand show: More than 4,500 kilometres of uniformly signposted cycle paths, a Münsterland riding route over 1,000 kilometres long and the multitude of castles, palaces and stately homes worth seeing are making the Münsterland increasingly popular with holidaymakers. The Hohe Mark Nature Park, which is largely located in the Münsterland, is also represented in the NRW Hall with tourist attractions.

Münsterland e.V. is taking part for the eighth time and can be found in NRW Hall 5.2.
