Identity and Münsterland feeling as seating furniture: installation of 15 Münsterland benches started

Six are already standing, nine are still to come. With colourful and 3.40 metre long Münsterland benches, the districts, cities and municipalities of Münsterland, together with Münsterland e.V., want to create a special opportunity to identify with the region. In the colour and shape of the region's logo, the benches are a commitment to Münsterland and more than just a nice piece of seating furniture - they stand for the high quality of life in the region.

"In Münsterland, people can live and work well. This is what our regional brand 'MÜNSTERLAND. THE GOOD LIFE.' and also the regional logo, which the benches are based on," says Klaus Ehling, Chairman of Münsterland e.V. "The grey 'M' of the logo stands for the urban spaces of Münsterland, the coloured bars in a light vibration for the wide and well-tended landscapes full of possibilities. The clear, fresh, bright colours express drive and joie de vivre."

As an important step in the ongoing brand development for the Münsterland region, the region logo and the claim "MÜNSTERLAND. THE GOOD LIFE." were presented to the public in 2019 and have since been used as a trademark in various campaigns and media, both regionally and nationally.

Kathrin Strotmann, Head of Brand Communication at Münsterland e.V., adds: "At 3.40 metres long and with their eye-catching shape and colour, the benches are an eye-catcher in the landscape and are intended to stand as beacons at special places that embody THE GOOD LIFE and give both locals and guests a good Münsterland feeling. Such places are identity-forming and make the region logo shine. First and foremost, these are the region's highlight castles and palaces." Strotmann also hopes that one or two selfies will be taken with the Münsterland benches.

A large part of the benches is financed by the ERDF funding project "Münsterland Castles and Palaces Region", which was initiated and is being implemented by Münsterland e.V. and the four districts as well as the city of Münster. The benches are part of a comprehensive package of measures to increase the quality of stay at the castles and palaces: together with new furnishing elements such as table-bench combinations, wave loungers, bicycle racks and information boards, they are intended to turn the historical treasures into highlight destinations for excursions. The installation of the equipment elements has already begun and will be continued in the coming months.

The installation of the Münsterland benches is planned for the coming weeks at Asbeck Abbey in Legden, Nordkirchen Castle in Nordkirchen, Vischering Castle in Lüdinghausen, Bentlage Abbey in Rheine, the DA, Kunsthaus Gravenhorst Abbey in Hörstel, the Haus Nottbeck cultural estate in Oelde and the Abbey Liesborn Museum in Wadersloh. There are also locations at or near the 100 Castles Route at the Hotel-Restaurant Brüggenhütte in Isselburg and in Vreden along the cycle path between the kult Westmünsterland and the Berkel power station. Münsterland benches have already been set up at the four district houses in Borken, Coesfeld, Steinfurt and Warendorf as well as in the Dümmertpark in Telgte and at the Tourist Information Centre in the city of Münster.

Ehling also sees the bank as a commitment of the cities and municipalities to the Münsterland brand: "The installation of the Münsterland Banks reinforces the joint brand strategy and thus also the regional cooperation. The Münsterland Bank in central locations is a sign and visual anchor of regional cohesion and a common path."
