The Münsterland is a paradise for cyclists and horse riders: All cycling enthusiasts will be delighted with the almost unlimited range of signposted cycle tours and cycle paths, while horse lovers can enjoy the 1,000-kilometre Münsterland Riding Route and many local routes with places to stop for refreshments, as well as numerous excellent events all about the fascination of horses. Münsterland e.V. now offers new overview maps for both topics, making it easy to plan your next excursion on a bike or on horseback.
In the Münsterland cycling region, almost 5,000 kilometres of cycle paths and tours take you past numerous sights and picturesque village centres in the vast park landscape. A compact overview is provided by the new cycle map, which shows the cycle path network of the entire region as well as the twelve premium routes. The premium routes, which include the 100 Castles Route, the Ems Cycle Path and the Peace Route, are accompanied by further information such as route length and special landscape features. In addition, the map provides tour tips, for example for day tours, tours with an e-bike or for the whole family, as well as useful information on services related to cycling.
The Münsterland is also known and loved far beyond its borders as a horse region: not only professional equestrians, but also more and more leisure riders enjoy the beautiful nature on horseback. In the wake of the Corona pandemic, individual trips and trips in small groups in particular have been in greater demand, and the topic of trail riding has also gained in popularity. The new riding map picks up on both developments and shows ideas for an individually planned holiday with your own horse or with a rented horse. For those for whom the horse theme is only one component of the holiday, the map provides information on selected highlights such as guided tours of the NRW State Stud or the Dülmen wild horses, a visit to the Westphalian Horse Museum or a carriage ride through the Münsterland park landscape.
Both maps not only present all the important information at a glance, but thanks to their handy format they can also be easily taken along on the road.
They are available at tourist information offices in the region as well as from Münsterland e.V. by telephone on 02571 949392 or by e-mail to touristik@muensterland.com. The maps can also be ordered online at https://www.muensterland.com/tourismus/service/urlaubs-kataloge-muensterland/.
