Listen, see, experience texts: Culture podcast "Mission White Flamingo" as guest at the Haus Nottbeck cultural estate

MÜNSTERLAND/KREIS WARENDORF. What is science fiction doing in Westphalia? How can literature actually be exhibited in an exciting and tangible way? And how can a cultural centre find a creative way to deal with the Corona pandemic? The Münsterland culture podcast "Mission Weißer Flamingo" gets to the bottom of all these and many other questions in the new episode. At the Haus Nottbeck cultural estate with its Museum of Westphalian Literature, creator Anna-Ida Almus from the Münsterland Cultural Office looks and listens behind the scenes of a cultural venue that is somewhat out of the way.

In a conversation with the academic director Professor Walter Gödden, the organisational director Dirk Bogdanski and the academic volunteer Onno Bargfrede, the podcast deals not only with basic information about the cultural centre and its concept, but also with the Corona crisis and its effects on Haus Nottbeck.

At the end of the episode, a short excerpt of a reading by Thorsten Nagelschmidt gives an impression of the programme of the house, followed by a poem by Sarah Marie Meinert, a young author who processes the everyday in her poetry. So this episode not only talks about Westphalian literature - she also has her own say.

With this fourth episode about a cultural location in the district of Warendorf, the podcast has now been a guest in all four districts of the region. The first milestone has thus been reached. "I would like to visit very different places throughout the region with the podcast in order to show the range of the cultural landscape," says Anna-Ida Almus. What will happen next with the podcast is not yet to be revealed. Only this much: "The podcast is still in its infancy. There is always room to develop the concept further. To quote Professor Walter Gödden in the new episode: 'Standing still is always a step backwards'," adds the podcast maker.

Incidentally, the project takes its name from the flamingos in the Zwillbrocker Venn. Because the cultural places presented in the podcast are like the migratory birds in Vreden: Special, but also somewhat hidden.

The podcast is a project of the Münsterland e.V. cultural office.
