Meeting in the spirit of tourism: Stakeholders from the Münsterland in dialogue at Haus Runde

More than 40 tourism experts came together on Thursday (22 February) at Haus Runde in Billerbeck at the invitation of Münsterland e.V.. They all shape tourism in the region - whether in districts, cities, municipalities or for individual institutions.

"Getting to know each other, exchanging ideas, networking: face-to-face meetings are essential in order to pull together for tourism in the Münsterland region," said Michael Kösters, Head of Tourism at Münsterland e.V. "As a network centre, we therefore not only regularly invite tourism professionals to exchange ideas digitally, but also to meetings like this one. In doing so, we want to provide information about the diverse projects, services and measures we offer as a regional management organisation, which we support the municipalities with and which they can and should use."

The Münsterland e.V. team presented various components from the field of tourism at themed islands. In addition to the topics of cycling, the horse region, the palaces and castles region and the Picknick³ project, the stakeholders learned more about the Münsterland brand, digitalisation, marketing, social media and photography, among other things. In addition, the teams from the Tourism Centre and Sales as well as the Cultural Office discussed their work with the stakeholders. "In small groups, they changed stations every ten minutes, engaged in dialogue and received information on each area," explained Kösters. "A format that everyone really enjoyed - combined with the desire to repeat this on a regular basis."

On Thursday, the 2023 tourism figures published a few hours before the meeting provided a boost, with Information und Technik Nordrhein-Westfalen (IT.NRW) reporting a record high: Never before had so many overnight stays and guest arrivals been counted in Münsterland. "At over 17 per cent, we are the region in NRW with the biggest increase compared to the pre-coronavirus year 2019," said Michael Kösters. "Nevertheless, we all agree that we can't rest on our laurels. This success motivates us to continue to inspire tourists with such passion for the Münsterland."
