Münsterland is climate land: Online event "Climate adaptation through green roofs" on 26 August

MUNSTERLAND. Heat, drought and heavy rain are phenomena that are becoming more frequent as a result of advancing climate change and are also more likely to occur in Münsterland in the future. Interested parties can find out the extent to which greening measures on and in buildings can help here in an online lecture on Thursday, 26 August 2021, starting at 6 pm. The event is part of the Münsterland-wide campaign "Münsterland is Climate Land".

The speaker for the evening will be Felix Mollenhauer from the Bundesverband GebäudeGrün e. V. (BuGG). He will first introduce the participants to different forms of building greening and then talk about the many positive effects of green roofs, i.e. the planting of roof surfaces. Water storage, cooling in summer, fine dust binding and promotion of biodiversity are important keywords in addition to aesthetic aspects. "Green roofs and photovoltaics are not necessarily mutually exclusive, but can be combined in a sensible way," promises Mollenhauer.

After the lecture, participants will have the opportunity to ask the expert questions. The lecture is part of the series of events organised by the Münsterland districts of Borken, Coesfeld, Steinfurt, Warendorf, the City of Münster, Münsterland e.V. and EnergyAgency.NRW as part of the climate campaign "Münsterland is Climate Land". It aims to inspire people in the region to do even more to protect the climate - but also to raise awareness of the need for climate adaptation.

Registrations are possible at www.muensterland.com/klimaland. Participation is free of charge. Participants will receive the access data for the Zoom event after registration.
