Münsterland is climate land: Online lecture "Sustainable mobility for many" on 7 December

Being sustainably mobile not only strengthens climate protection, but also promotes participation. Interested parties can find out how and why on 7 December (Tuesday) from 6 p.m. in an online lecture entitled "Sustainable mobility for many". The event is part of the Münsterland-wide campaign "Münsterland is Climate Land".

In order to achieve the national climate protection goals, the mobility behaviour of people in Münsterland must change. Around one fifth of all greenhouse gas emissions in Germany currently come from the transport sector. On the one hand, these can be reduced through increased public transport use and sharing models. On the other hand, technological developments such as autonomous driving offer new opportunities to combine and promote climate protection and social participation. After all, a sustainable mobility transition will only meet with acceptance if it integrates social aspects and is made accessible to many.

In the online lecture, the speaker Dr. Bente Knoll focuses on her home country Austria. The European neighbours are currently introducing the Climate Ticket Ö, with which users can travel throughout Austria at low cost on public transport. Knoll also conducts research in Vienna on equal opportunities in mobility. In her lecture, she will present perspectives, scenarios and recommendations on the following question: How can sustainable forms of mobility as well as automated mobility be pushed and steered in the Austrian transport policy as well as the policy for research, technology and innovation in the sense of equal opportunities and inclusion in the coming years?

After the lecture, participants will have the opportunity to ask the expert questions. The lecture is part of the series of events organised by the Münsterland districts of Borken, Coesfeld, Steinfurt, Warendorf, the City of Münster, Münsterland e.V. and EnergyAgency.NRW as part of the climate campaign "Münsterland is Climate Land". It aims to inspire people in the region to do even more to protect the climate - but also to raise awareness of the need for climate adaptation.

Registrations are possible at www.muensterland.com/klimaland.

Participation is free of charge. Participants will receive the access data for the Zoom event after registration.
