Münsterland Picnic Days from 16 to 19 June: programme highlights fixed

Over 40 events in 33 locations create a picnic atmosphere

The Münsterland Picnic Days are in the starting blocks and will put the region in a picnic mood with over 40 events from 16 to 19 June. Under the motto "I. You. We. Münsterland celebrates picnics!", locals, guests and picnic enthusiasts are invited to celebrate the Münsterland lifestyle together. At www.muensterland.com/picknicktage you will find numerous picnic events and the most beautiful places, recipes and tips for a picnic on your own. The initiator is Münsterland e.V., which has called on stakeholders in the region to organise picnic events.

The kick-off of the picnic days is the public holiday on 16 June. On this day, for example, picnic blankets will light up in Linnenbrink's garden in Münster and bring a living room atmosphere to the green spaces at a midsummer night picnic. Picnickers can make wonderful use of the bridge day on 17 June for a self-determined picnic. On 18 June, International Picnic Day, there will be a "Sherlock Holmes Radio Play Picnic" at Raesfeld Castle. Christoph Tiemann and his theatre ex libris will puzzle the audience. Those who prefer to be physically active can go on a lucky hike in Lienen on 18 June - including a lucky picnic.

The picnic days will come to a royal close on Sunday, 19 June, when the historical treasures in Münsterland will open their doors and gates for Castle and Palace Day - and of course one or two picnic areas. For example, at the Musical GeBURGstag Picnic at Lüdinghausen Castle: festively laid tables in the Parc de Taverny with a music programme leave nothing to be desired. There will also be music in Münster: at the Vinyl Picnic on the B-Side, visitors can bring records and put them on themselves. At the picnic at the Abbey Liesborn Museum in Wadersloh, a picnic performance by the Stromberg Castle Stage in honour of the portrait painter Johann Christoph Rincklake awaits.

"The people of Münsterland love nature and good company - they are made for four days of picnicking," says Melanie Schlüters, project manager of Picknick³ at Münsterland e.V. "Almost every second Münsterlander goes picnicking several times a year, which is more often than the national average. In combination with a concert, a wine festival or a play, a picnic is a real experience. Our regional players have put together an impressive programme for the four picnic days."

Schlüters expects a total of over 40 picnic events. The following locations have already registered events, with more to follow: Ahaus, Ahlen, Altenberge, Ascheberg, Bocholt, Borken, Ennigerloh, Everswinkel, Gescher, Greven, Heiden, Hopsten, Lengerich, Lienen, Lüdinghausen, Metelen, Münster, Nottuln, Ochtrup, Oelde, Raesfeld, Recke, Rhede, Sassenberg, Schöppingen, Senden, Sendenhorst, Stadtlohn, Steinfurt, Tecklenburg, Telgte, Vreden and Wadersloh.

The programme is available on the website www.muensterland.com/picknicktage and is constantly updated with events and current information.

The picnic days take place annually around 18 June, International Picnic Day, throughout the Münsterland region.
