"The Münsterland blossoms": Green gardens and balconies wanted in Münsterland!

Münsterland e.V. competition on the topic of sustainability

Summertime is gardentime. And where better to enjoy the Münsterland sun than in your own garden, on your balcony or terrace? Under the title "Münsterland blossoms up", Münsterland e.V. is calling on amateur gardeners to send in their favourite photo of their own garden or balcony - and win a picnic box with regional surprise treats.

It doesn't matter whether it's flower boxes, shrubs or trees - the main thing is that the photos should be green and colourful. With "Münsterland is blooming", Münsterland e.V. wants to draw attention to the topics of sustainability, biodiversity and climate as part of the project "Münsterland is climate land".

"The consequences of climate change are also making themselves felt here in Münsterland," says Birthe Schnitger, Climate Networker of the EnergyAgency.NRW at Münsterland e.V. "We should therefore also adapt to increased heat waves and heavy rain in our own gardens. Instead of creating stone and gravel gardens, a near-natural design has advantages for both sides. For example, if you plant flowering herbs, you do something for bees and butterflies, but also for your own diet. Fruit trees offer insects nectar, but also provide shade in summer. And in most cases, the result is not only a feel-good paradise for plants and animals, but also for people."

If you want to take part in the competition, you can send a photo of your planted balcony or garden by e-mail to gewinnspiel@muensterland.com by 24 June with the subject "Münsterland blüht auf". Entrants will be entered into a prize draw for a picnic box filled with delicious and sustainable products from the region.

More information is available at www.muensterland.com/muensterland-blueht-auf. In addition, Münsterland e.V. has compiled a lot of further information on the website on the topics of natural gardens, species protection and climate protection and points out ideas and examples of how Münsterland is on the way to more species and climate protection.

Münsterland is Climate Land is a joint project of the districts of Borken, Coesfeld, Steinfurt, Warendorf, the city of Münster as well as Münsterland e.V. and EnergyAgency.NRW.
