Submit entries now: Applications for the Münsterland Journalism Award 2020 now open

You have researched a special contribution on the Münsterland, creatively presented a topic from the region or accompanied people with a connection to the Münsterland in an exciting journalistic way? Then show us your contribution from print, radio, television or digital platforms and apply now for the eleventh Münsterland Journalism Award! Entries are now open. Münsterland e.V. and the Münster-Münsterland Press Association, together with the Sparkasse Münsterland Ost as sponsor, honour the best media contributions from the region, about the region and about people in the region with the Münsterland Journalist Award.

We are looking for background reports, portraits, reports, interviews, critical commentaries, photos and other graphic elements. The type of presentation of the contributions is open: In addition to print, online, film and radio contributions, visual contributions or other creative approaches to a topic are also eligible for awards. The Münsterland Journalism Prize is awarded in the categories Society/Politics, Culture/Tourism, Business/Science and Sport. In addition - across all categories - there is the creative presentation. This includes photos, slide shows, caricatures, interactive graphics, infographics, graphically designed pages or other special digital formats.

Each prize is endowed with 2000 euros. Entries may be submitted by both permanent and freelance journalists who work full-time for German-language media or who work full-time as a German-language journalist. The contributions must have been published between 1 January 2018 and 30 June 2020 and have a connection to Münsterland. The deadline for applications is 6 December 2020. Applications can only be submitted online at www.muensterland.com/journalistenpreis.

"The Journalism Award deliberately shines a spotlight on those with their work who provide us as media users with important guidance on a daily basis. Especially in times of dynamic change, this deserves special appreciation," says Markus Schabel, Chairman of the Board of Sparkasse Münsterland Ost.

"The outbreak of the Corona pandemic and the related developments have made it particularly clear how important the work of journalists on the ground and regional reporting are," emphasises Klaus Ehling, Chairman of Münsterland e.V. "We want to honour this once again with the Münsterland Journalist Award. We are therefore all the more pleased to receive exciting and critical contributions on the Corona issue."

But even apart from this topic, those responsible are already eagerly awaiting the many entries. Wolfram Linke, Chairman of the Press Association Münster-Münsterland e.V., emphasises: "In the last call for entries alone, 138 journalists submitted 226 contributions. This number proves the diversity of journalism in the region as well as the high recognition that the Münsterland Journalism Award enjoys."

All information on the competition as well as the complete call for entries can be found at www.muensterland.com/journalistenpreis.
