"Münsterlanden" at Swin-Golf: Newcomers swing clubs together at welcome event

Next event of the Onboarding@Münsterland service has already been scheduled

MÜNSTERLAND/ASCHEBERG. Tee off, hit, Münsterland: for some, it is not quite so easy to find a connection in their new region alongside their new job. The Onboarding@Münsterland service wants to change that. That's why it welcomed around 20 newcomers to a game of swin golf in Ascheberg-Davensberg on Thursday evening. "We invite newcomers to blind dates with their new home," explains Monika Leiking, head of the service. And the plan worked: The new Münsterlanders exchanged pleasantries in the fresh air at the end of the working day and enjoyed the evening with drinks and finger food.

The welcome event is part of the Münsterland-wide Onboarding@Münsterland service: "It is not always easy for employees who are new to a region to make new contacts. We want to change that with our welcome events," says Eva Kleingräber from the service team. "In doing so, we bring like-minded people together and discover exciting places in the region with them so that they arrive and also want to stay." Like the Swin Golf course in Ascheberg that evening. 20 newcomers had accepted the service's invitation and were grateful for the opportunity to exchange ideas with like-minded people that evening. "It's nice to be welcome. It feels like home," said 35-year-old Alison, for example. She came to Münsterland from northern France with her husband - a native of Münsterland - in January and felt somewhat at home not only because of the similar landscape, but also because of the community in Ascheberg that evening.

The Onboarding@Münsterland service was created as a regional initiative by employers and economic actors in Münsterland, and is implemented by Münsterland e.V. with the support of numerous institutions in the region. The service supports employers in employer branding and location marketing as well as skilled workers in arriving, feeling good and staying here in the region. "A decision to take a job is always a decision to choose a place to live," says Monika Leiking. The service includes not only events such as the welcome event, but also advisory services for skilled workers. Employers can also become members of the network and thus secure a wide range of benefits with which they can become more visible and advertise to skilled workers. "Together with employers, we want to ensure that Münsterland is perceived as an attractive place to work and live, even beyond its borders," explains Leiking. "And this also includes welcoming newcomers to the region in an appreciative manner."

After the successful second event, the next date has already been set: another welcome event will take place on 3 September (Thursday) at the Sasse distillery in Schöppingen. More information is available at www.onboarding-muensterland.com.
