Nominees for Münsterland Innovation Award determined: 16 companies from 110 applications

This time the competition was bigger than ever: with 110 applications, the Münsterland Innovation Award 2021/22 recorded the highest number of applicants in around 20 years. 16 companies were able to prevail this year and are now nominated for the coveted award with their ideas, projects, products and models. They convinced the jury in the categories "Business", "Science meets Business", "Start-up", "Small and Smart" and "Digital Business Models".

The Münsterland Innovation Award is organised by Münsterland e.V. and this year's motto is "Together. Sustainable. Act. The Münsterland thinks ahead." Klaus Ehling, Chairman of Münsterland e.V.: "The motto picks up on a topic that affects all companies. No matter how big or in which industry. We are very pleased that so many companies have applied for the Innovation Award this year, even though times are not easy right now and many a company has had to reposition itself. The economic players in the region are thus also living two important core brand values of the Münsterland: energetic and ambitious." According to Ehling, the business development agencies of the districts and the city of Münster also contributed to the high number of applications.

Münsterland e.V. awards the prize every two years to creative and innovative developments from Münsterland. Interested companies had from December 2021 to February 2022 to submit an application. The Innovation Award is supported by its sponsors: the savings banks in Münsterland, Provinzial Versicherung AG and the energy service and infrastructure provider Westenergie AG. The decision on the nominees is made by an independent jury of six experts from business and science. The winners will be chosen on 1 September in Dülmen in the district of Coesfeld at a festive award ceremony and rewarded with prize money of 4000 euros as well as an image or product film produced for their own company.

Dr. Wolfgang Breuer, Chairman of the Board of Provinzial Versicherung AG, emphasises: "At the Münsterland Innovation Award, local companies can show what they can do. They are measured, for example, on the basis of market opportunities, innovative potential or presentation of the concept. In the process, everything pays off for the future, because when it comes to sustainability, everyone has to think ahead and work together - and that's also how innovations are created."

Katherina Reiche, CEO of Westenergie AG, adds: "The competition shows that challenging situations can also be a drive and incentive to think in new ways. Despite the pandemic, many companies in Münsterland have given free rein to their inventive spirit and worked to make themselves and the region fit for the future. The nominees can now show this to a broad public."
