Cycling in the footsteps of history: New cycle planning map for the Peace Route published by Münsterland e.V.

The Peace Route connects the historic town halls of the two cities of peace, Münster and Osnabrück, over a distance of 163 kilometres. Anyone cycling here is following in the footsteps of the Peace of Westphalia, as the most important sites of the historic event of 1648 are located along the route. The matching cycling and information map has now been published in a new edition by Münsterland e.V.

The Peace Route is a modern, scenically and culturally varied long-distance cycle route on historic equestrian paths. In addition to a large general overview, the map also includes detailed maps of Münster and Osnabrück. Short portraits present the town halls of both cities as well as other contemporary witnesses along the route - Schloss Iburg in Bad Iburg, the pilgrimage chapel in Telgte and the moated castle Haus Marck in Tecklenburg. Important information about the places along the route provides inspiration for one or the other stopover on the tour. Information on the signposting of the route, on the twelve associated listening stations as well as on an attractive Peace Route package tour round off the information offered by the cycling and information map.

Interested parties can download the map free of charge from www.friedensroute.de, order it from the Tourismusgesellschaft Osnabrücker Land at www.osnabruecker-land.de or from Münsterland e.V. at touristik@muensterland.com or obtain it from the tourist information offices in the neighbouring towns.
