regionen.NRW define strategy for 2024

Spring reception on 27 February in the state parliament

For more than ten years, the regions in NRW have been networking under the slogan "regionen.NRW. Strong regions. Strong state" and develop joint concepts, strategies and projects. In order to be able to meet the challenges of the state together in the future, the management and executive boards have now met in Münster for a closed meeting and defined the association's annual strategy. Klaus Ehling, member of the board of Münsterland e.V., one of the association's nine regional development organisations, was one of the participants.

Among other things, they discussed the planning for this year's spring reception for the regions. This will take place on 27 February (Tuesday) in the state parliament in Düsseldorf and will be held under the motto "The regions and the implementation of the European Green Deal". The keynote speech will be given by Kurt Vandenberghe, Director of the European Commission's Directorate-General for Climate Action.

The representatives of the NRW regions also spoke about future closer cooperation with the EU Commission in Brussels in the form of exchange meetings and positioning on the future of cohesion policy. In addition, workshops on various topics are planned in the individual regions this year. The association will also once again have a stand at the summer festival on 4 June at the NRW state representation in Berlin. In addition, there will be exchange meetings with the various regional organisations in order to continue close cooperation in the future.

This makes it all the more important that we come together once a year for our closed meeting to discuss important topics and look to the future together," emphasises Klaus Ehling, CEO of Münsterland e.V.

The meeting also included a look back at the anniversary year 2023, in which the association celebrated its tenth anniversary. During this time, cooperation with the EU Commission and the state government was significantly strengthened and many successful projects were implemented. These collaborations are to be further intensified and the effective work of the association is to be made even more visible.
