RennFietsen collect 30,000 euros for children in need

On the long weekend around Ascension Day, around 30 racing cyclists put in their best effort at the 14th RennFietsen Tour Münsterland and collected 30,000 euros for children in need. "The four-day tour in the familiar format with overnight stays in three stage towns was once again very well received by all participants. Together with the experienced tour guides, the participants went through the Münsterland region and, in the spirit of the Peace of Westphalia, also through the neighbouring Osnabrück region. The result can be seen: The total amount donated is 30,000 euros," said a delighted Joachim Wechner, the tour leader, last Sunday when the total amount donated was announced in front of the historic town hall in Münster.

From 18 to 21 May, the cyclists rode through the region for children in need. 100 percent of the money they collected in the run-up to the tour will go to the two aid organisations Stiftung AGAPEDIA and roterkeil.net. On the occasion of the anniversary "375 Years of Peace of Westphalia", the last stage on Sunday led along parts of the Peace Route from Osnabrück to Münster. In Osnabrück, Mayor Uwe Görtemöller welcomed the participants and in Münster, Mayor Maria Winkel received them in front of the historic town hall at the end of the 14th RennFietsen Tour Münsterland.

Joachim Wechner: "Being on the road together for a good cause - that's simply fun. The athletes really put their backs into it, both in the run-up to collecting the donations and during the cycling, the motivation was great. It's always great to see them arrive at the stage destination exhausted but in a good mood at the end of a 150-kilometre stage." For the overnight stays, the RennFietsen Tour stopped in Tecklenburg-Brochterbeck, Greven and Wallenhorst.

Münsterland e.V. was also able to contribute a part in addition to the organisation: this year it donated hooded jackets in the RennFietsen design, the proceeds of which went towards the donation total. "We are happy about this successful tour and are glad that we could support the tour both financially and visually with the jackets," said Kerstin Clev from the organisation team at Münsterland e.V.

Many beautiful impressions of the tour days can still be seen on the Facebook channel @Rennfietsentour.

The tour was organised by the cycling teams AGAPEDIA Münsterland and Roter Keil Senden in cooperation with Münsterland e.V. Westenergie AG again supported the RennFietsen Tour 2023 as main sponsor.
