School over? Off to culture: Voluntary social year available at the Cultural Office of Münsterland e.V.

Support at the music festival, network with artists and implement your own projects: From September, young adults up to 27 years of age will once again have the opportunity to complete a voluntary social year (FSJ) at the Cultural Office. Exciting insights into the world of work and culture and a monthly allowance await them. Applications can be submitted until 15 March via the Volunteer Services Culture and Education portal: www.freiwilligendienste-kultur-bildung.de.

"Many of our FSJers are happy that they can accompany us to many dates in the region and get to know so many artists and cultural institutions," says Laura Säumenicht, employee at the Münsterland e.V. Cultural Office. Jiyan Milli, who completed her FSJ at the Cultural Office from September 2021 to August 2022, adds: "I would recommend an FSJ at the Cultural Office to anyone who is interested in the cultural field and also to anyone who likes planning and organising. I can promise that you leave the FSJ with a lot of experience." Jiyan's and other testimonials from previous FSJs can be read at www.muensterland.com/fsj-kultur.

In addition to networking cultural actors and coordinating the RKP - Regionales Kultur Programm NRW (Regional Cultural Programme NRW), the tasks of the cultural office and thus also of the future team member include: advising and training artists and cultural workers, supporting projects and campaigns with press and public relations work, maintaining the website www.muensterand.com/kultur and using the social media channels. The future FSJ volunteer will also be involved in the organisation of events, whether Münsterland Festival, cultural academy or artist exchange.

"With us, volunteers don't have to commit to theatre, literature house or museum, but have the chance to get to know the entire range of culture in Münsterland," Säumenicht emphasises. "Together we look for their interests and strengths and support them in a project of their own. Anything is possible, from a podcast to an exploration of accessibility in culture."

The FSJ lasts one year and starts on 1 September.
Those interested can apply by 15 March at www.freiwilligendienste-kultur-bildung.de
