MÜNSTERLAND. It is to come soon, the hub system. In order to prepare for the Münsterland-wide introduction at the beginning of the 2021 season, 14 tourism stakeholders from the Münsterland travelled to the Rhineland cycling region last week to see the hub network on site.
"We received valuable impulses for the introduction of the hub system in our region," says Michael Kösters, tourism expert and general representative at Münsterland e.V. "At the same time, the exchange of opinions with our colleagues from the Rhineland cycling region confirmed that the maintenance and optimisation of the cycle path infrastructure is a joint task and that we are on the right path to positioning ourselves for the future with the ERDF funding project 'Quality Management in the Münsterland Destination'."
The representatives from the districts of Steinfurt, Coesfeld, Warendorf and Borken as well as from the city of Münster, from the ADFC and the Münsterland e.V. were primarily interested in the supra-regional necessary coordination procedures between the districts and large cities of the region. In Paffendorf Castle and at junction 14 in the Bergheim municipal area, they learned about the signposting system, the junction boards and the network construction.
The day ended with a comparison of the nationally known themed cycle routes Wasserburgen-Route and 100 Schlösser Route. The excursion was part of the programme of the ERDF project "State-wide tourism innovation workshop".
In addition to the managing director, representatives from the Rhine-Erft District, Rhine-Sieg District, Euskirchen District, Bergisches Land Nature Park, Roads NRW and Rhine-Erft Tourism took part from the RadRegionRheinland e.V. and the Wasserburgen-Route.
