Welcome event at the harbour in Münster: 20 newcomers make contacts and get to know the region

Service Onboarding@Münsterland supports skilled workers in arriving

They not only got to know the port in Münster, but also new people from the region: around 20 newcomers made contacts at a welcome event on Thursday evening and discovered the region on a guided tour of the port followed by a get-together in the Hafenkäserei. The invitation was extended by the Onboarding@Münsterland service of Münsterland e.V., which supports skilled workers in arriving and becoming Münsterlanders, as well as employers in the region in recruiting skilled workers.

"The restrictions surrounding the Corona pandemic have made it even more difficult for newcomers to exchange ideas and explore the region. We are all the more pleased that after exciting online formats we can finally offer welcome events live and in colour again," said Eva Kleingräber from the Service Onboarding@Münsterland team at Münsterland e.V. The newcomers were also happy about this. The event was fully booked after just a few days and attracted numerous interested people to the port: the 20 or so participants came not only from Münster but also from surrounding towns such as Rheine, Coesfeld, Emsdetten and Lüdinghausen.

Together they explored Münster's city harbour on a guided tour by k3 and discovered old industrial facilities, the Kreativkai, industrial-historical monuments as well as modern new buildings. Afterwards, they came together for a cosy exchange in the harbour cheese dairy, also tasted one or the other cheese speciality, and got to know each other better. "It was a super nice evening with such nice people. I think the Welcome Event format is really good and I'm looking forward to more events in Münsterland!" said participant Carolin Woltering, who moved back to Münster from Frankfurt.

The welcome event is part of the Münsterland-wide service Onboarding@Münsterland. With this format, the service brings like-minded people together and discovers exciting places in the region with them so that they arrive and also want to stay. The Onboarding@Münsterland service was developed as a regional initiative by employers and business players in the Münsterland region, and is implemented by Münsterland e.V. with the support of numerous institutions in the region. It supports employers in employer branding and location marketing as well as skilled workers in arriving, feeling good and staying in the region. The service includes not only events such as the Welcome Event, but also advisory services for skilled workers.

The next welcome event will take place in September together with Münster University Hospital. The service will then welcome Albanian nursing professionals.
