Would you like a postcard? Regional writer sends poems to strangers

Interested parties can submit addresses and receive a card from Neïtah Janzing.

The regional writer Neïtah Janzing not only designs her own postcards with motifs from Münsterland. She also fills the little works of art with special words and sends them to strangers. Anyone interested in receiving mail from the regional writer can now contact her and look forward to exciting discoveries in their letterbox. An email with your own postal address to muensterland@stadt-land-text.de is all it takes.

"Writing to unknown people is a bit like sending a bottle into the sea. I like the possible encounters behind it and the chance to share words and impressions in an analogue way," says Neïtah Janzing, who has been on the road in Münsterland since 1 March. She was chosen in the third edition of the state-wide literature project "stadt.land.text NRW" to track down stories and put the region into literary words. She is supported by the Münsterland e.V. cultural office.

During her residency in the region, she discovers the Münsterland mainly photographically. From these photos she then creates her own postcards - of course with paper she makes herself. So each card is unique. What does she mainly write about? "About Münsterland!" emphasises the 25-year-old, who was born in Canada and lives in the artists' village of Schöppingen during her time in Münsterland. "But also about memories, moments and experiences." She writes in German, but also in French or English on request.

Anyone who would like to receive a message from Neïtah Janzing can send her an email with their own address to muensterland@stadt-land-text.de. And of course, the regional writer is also happy to receive a reply - she will gladly give her own address to anyone interested.

More about the stadt.land.text NRW project

The project stadt.land.text NRW goes back to an idea of the cultural region Aachen, which tested the format and implemented it for the first time in 2017 for the ten cultural regions in North Rhine-Westphalia - Aachen, Bergisches Land, Hellweg, Münsterland, Niederrhein, Ostwestfalen-Lippe, Rheinschiene, Ruhrgebiet, Sauerland and Südwestfalen. In 2021/22, the Münsterland will be in charge with the Cultural Office. For the first time, literary artists who do not write in German were also able to apply for the 2022 call. The scholarship holders will each receive a scholarship of 7200 euros. The project is funded by the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia within the framework of the RKP - Regional Culture Programme NRW (RKP NRW).
