This approximately 240-kilometre cycle tour takes you through real horse country. The elegant and imposing animals are omnipresent in the eastern Münsterland. Of course, the journey also takes you to numerous castles and palaces - after all, it's not for nothing that you're cycling along the 100 Castles Route. Start in the Westphalian metropolis of Münster, experience the horse capital of Germany and let yourself be enchanted by the valley of the Lippe.

Day 1

Journey to Münster

Use the time to stroll through one of Germany's most attractive cities and enjoy the flair of this lovely university town. Perhaps you'll be tempted by the Westphalian Horse Museum in Münster's all-weather zoo. The visit can be combined with a nice boat trip across the Aasee. The landing stage is only a few metres from the city centre. The heart of the city is the Prinzipalmarkt, famous for its beautiful facades and archways. Numerous sights and museums can be easily reached on foot.

Day 2

Münster - Warendorf (approx. 79 km)

After your guided tour, use the time for a short stroll through the alleys of the town. Then it's finally time to set off and your journey will take you past Haus Dyckburg to Ostbevern and Loburg Castle. Next, explore the double castle complex of Harkotten before arriving in Sassenberg. Sassenberg is famous for its excellent asparagus, a speciality that is hard to beat for freshness and taste in May. Today's final destination is the equestrian town of Warendorf. A special tip is a walk through the NRW State Stud.

Warendorf -Wadersloh (approx. 48 km)

Before you leave Warendorf again today, you should definitely explore the picturesque old town. The town surprises with its alleys and beautiful squares. On your way to Oelde, you will come across Haus Dieck and the beautiful grounds of Haus Vornholz. In Oelde, it's worth visiting the Four Seasons Park with its interesting variety of plants or taking a look at the Potts Brewery. The 100 Castles Route now takes you into the southernmost Münsterland region to Wadersloh. The museum Abbey Liesborn is not only worth seeing, but also offers an excellent cultural programme.

Day 4

Wadersloh - Ahlen (approx. 64 km)

On the 100 castles route, you will cross the river Lippe today and arrive at the next highlight, Hovestadt Castle. Take some time for a walk through the beautiful garden. The route now takes you back north through the Lippe valley to Assen Castle. Enjoy the vastness of the landscape where horses graze peacefully along the way. The end point of today's stage is Ahlen. The Westfalen colliery still stands there as a testimony to the former mining town of Ahlen.

Ahlen - Münster (approx. 52 km)

The final stage of your cycle tour leads from Ahlen via Everswinkel to the starting point in Münster. The route takes you through the park landscape to Everswinkel. You will pass Haus Brückhausen on the way. Take the time to get to know the Münsterland region off the bike. Everswinkel is known for its excellent trotter breeding.
Already within sight of Münster, the Drostenhof Wolbeck awaits you. In Münster, you should take time to visit the LWL Museum of Natural History or the Picasso Museum before you leave.
