Cycle Tour | Asparagus Cycle Tour

Enjoy your first day in the beautiful old town of Warendorf, the horse capital of Germany. It is easy to forget the time while strolling through the picturesque alleys of the town centre. Small restaurants offer regional dishes in every season and, of course, many variations of the much-loved vegetable during asparagus season.

Today's cycle tour takes you north on the "Cycle Route of the Historic Town Centres" out of the town of Warendorf towards Sassenberg-Füchtorf. A number of farmers have been growing asparagus in this small village since 1947. From April onwards, the whole village is on its feet to help with the "Füchtorf Asparagus Spring": numerous gourmet stalls offer a wide variety of asparagus delicacies, and a colourful festival programme attracts many visitors every year. After these moments of enjoyment, the journey continues through the beautiful nature of the northern Münsterland to Lengerich, at the foot of the Teutoburg Forest.

The third day takes you to Münster. On the way there, you will pass particularly beautiful asparagus farms, which also invite you to take a culinary break with various other specialities such as delicious Westphalian ham or fresh organic strawberries. The town centre of Ladbergen with its charming half-timbered houses is also worth a stop. On the edge of the Dortmund-Ems Canal you will discover more asparagus farms before you reach Münster in the evening.

The heart of the city of Münster is the beautiful Prinzipalmarkt with its arcades. From here it is only a few minutes' walk to many sights. Take a look at the cathedral, visit the historic Friedenssaal (Peace Hall) or marvel at the excellent exhibitions in the State Museum of Art and Culture. In the evening, the countless restaurants in the city centre or in the trendy harbour district will entice you. On the last day, the cycle tour leads along the idyllic Ems cycle path to Warendorf. Along the way, you can stock up on regional products at one of the neighbouring farms before heading home again.
