Cycle tour In the footsteps of the Tödden
Follow in the footsteps of the "Tödden" or "Tüötten" along 122 kilometres of the Töddenland cycle path. These were former travelling merchants who travelled as far as the Netherlands in the 17th to 19th centuries with their rolls of linen or other goods on their backs to sell their products and from whom such well-known companies as C&A and Hettlage emerged.
The route takes you through the northern Münsterland or Tecklenburger Land in North Rhine-Westphalia and the southern Emsland in Lower Saxony. At 22 "Tödden stations", you will learn interesting facts about the lifestyle and work of the former linen merchants. In terms of landscape, you will explore the hilly Schafberg plateau near Mettingen, Ibbenbüren and Recke as well as flat heathland and moorland in Hopsten and southern Emsland. You will also find exciting excursion destinations such as the Dörenther Klippen cliffs, Lake Saller See, the Holy Sea, a sulphur bath and a Tüöttenmuseum museum along the route.
Be inspired by the history and tradition of the travelling merchants and the charm of the neighbouring towns of Ibbenbüren, Hopsten, Mettingen, Recke, Freren, Beesten and Schapen.

Discover a tour on the approximately 122 km long "Töddenland cycle path" through Münsterland and southern Emsland. Your tour starts and ends in Ibbenbüren. After an overnight stay in one of Ibbenbüren's accommodations, you start your cycle tour on the Töddenland cycle path feeling rested. You spend the second night in southern Emsland and then cycle back to Ibbenbüren on the second stage and start your return journey.

Follow in the footsteps of the Tödden for 122 kilometres through Münsterland and southern Emsland. Your tour starts and finishes in southern Emsland. As soon as you arrive, you start the first stage on the Töddenland cycle path. In the evening, you will spend the night with one of your Ibbenbüren hosts before cycling the second stage back to your starting point the following day and travelling home.
