Get to know each other and then: into the saddle!

Let's go: A few days in the saddle await you. After your arrival in Legden in western Münsterland, a cosy get-to-know-you picnic awaits you on the threshing floor. The centre for leisure riding is known as an experienced trail riding centre. And then it's off to the horses. You'll spend the first few hours in the saddle and enjoy the beautiful landscape on a long forest tour. Pure happiness!

Welcome to the Country Inn

Relaxation awaits you after your first ride at Hotel Hermannshöhe: your accommodation, the warmly run country inn, is a former customs station and today a modern hotel with fresh Münsterland cuisine. Legden in the heart of Münsterland stands for Westphalian cosiness and is also called the "dahlia village" - the green park landscape here is enriched by a colourful splendour of blossoms until autumn.

Forest ride and saddlebag picnic

Your second day starts directly with a ride into the deep forests of Münsterland: from quiet walking tours to wild gallops! The Bröke forest area and the adjoining Liesner Wald are among the largest and most beautiful forest areas in Westmünsterland, covering an area of 420 hectares - plenty of room for hoofbeats! One of the many stories about this region revolves around a 350-year-old oak trunk weighing several tonnes, the "Moi Höltken", which now rests there as a natural monument. The oak, whose history dates back to the Thirty Years' War, fell victim to the violent spring storms of 1990, but still attracts the attention of hikers today. And riders, of course!
On the way, fortify yourself with a saddlebag picnic. Today the motto is: rest wherever you like! As soon as we find a nice spot in the countryside, the horses are tied up and the saddlebags full of Münsterland delicacies are plundered. A sensual experience!

Wellness and relaxation

What a day! You can still feel the rhythm of riding in your body. In the evening you relax yourself and your tired muscles in the hotel pool with sauna, sanarium and Physio-Therm infrared heat: a gentle wellness treatment with lava sand technology. So good!

Horse riding and lasso throwing

Let's go: You can hardly wait for your third day in the saddle. Collect your own personal MünsterLand moments once again from the back of a horse and enjoy the Münsterland park landscape on horseback. You will never forget these moments. Oh yes: riding makes you hungry! But refreshments are provided in the form of a "robbers' picnic". What is that? You'll love it! And you'll need the energy. Because if you want, you can try your hand at lasso throwing after the ride. What fun!

Good-natured Tinker Good-natured Tinker

When talking about the Tinker, the first thing that comes to mind is the striking appearance - piebald in all variations, lush kötenbehang, full long hair and the typical little goat's beard on the lower lip. The Irish breed has become a fashionable horse in Europe since the 1990s and still enjoys great popularity in the course of leisure riding.

Originally, Tinkers were draught and work horses of the travelling Travellers, an Irish population group without a permanent residence, who were derogatorily called Tinkers (tinkers, gypsies).
These horses are quite diverse, not only in appearance, as characteristics of warmbloods as well as ponies and cold-bloods can be recognised. From the heavy draught horse with cold blood characteristics to the medium-heavy types and the Tinker with pony influence, different characteristics are possible. All these characteristics make them a perfect companion for a ride - fearless, calm and for almost every size of rider you can also find the right size of horse.
