Ahaus - The young town with tradition

Situated between high moors and juniper heath, Ahaus is surrounded by unspoilt nature. Situated close to the border with the Netherlands, Ahaus offers a wide range of leisure activities. Cyclists feel just as comfortable here as culture lovers and nature lovers.

Ahaus - 1000 years young

Extensive nature reserves, art and culture as well as a lively life give the 1000-year-old castle town of Ahaus its unmistakable face. Do you know, for example, the "Musiksommer Schloss Ahaus" or the pub festival "Livehaftig"? These are two of the many events to which Ahaus invites you.

Holidays and leisure according to your wishes

Whether it's cycling tours, day trips or weekend holidays - Ahaus offers something for everyone with balloon and pengelanton rides, bossel, guided tours of the town, cycle hire, virtual flights, bird shooting or hiking. If you are fascinated by old crafts, you can look over the shoulder of a clog maker. And of course you shouldn't miss the jewel, the baroque moated castle in Ahaus. Adjacent to the new pedestrian zone, Ahaus Castle is the heart of the town.

Hole in or side trip - Ahaus makes it possible

Golfers will find the best conditions for a successful round amidst the gentle parkland at the Ahaus golf course, and cyclists have almost unlimited possibilities. The 100 Castles Route and the Flamingo Route take cyclists through the region on low-traffic paths. A trip to our Dutch neighbours is highly recommended. The imperceptible border is just a few kilometres away. The TOPs along the border make it easier for border crossers to find their way.

Golfing in Ahaus

The Ahaus golf course is located between the districts of Ottenstein and Alstätte, adjacent to the Hörsteloer Wacholderheide nature reserve. The course blends harmoniously into the landscape thanks to the partly ancient tree population and natural water hazards. Whether as a 9-hole or in combination as an 18-hole course - golfing here is individual and varied. The 18-hole course has even been awarded the title of "Premier European Golf Course". Golf newcomers can book taster courses. And those who want to stay longer can stay at the Ahauser Land- & Golfhotel directly at the course.
