This tranquil cycle tour combines architecture with breathtaking views and the rural idyll - ideal for switching off. You start at the town hall in Ahlen and follow the Werse out of town, past the Westfalen colliery and the leafy Osthalde.
After leaving the Werse in a northerly direction, you will reach the small community of Vorhelm. There you can visit "Haus Vorhelm", a small 15th-century castle with baroque elements. If you follow the route further north, you will reach the "Hardtteiche" shortly before Sendenhorst. These old gravel pits are now a nature reserve with lush vegetation. Take advantage of this special landscape for a recreational break. The route then passes through Sendenhorst.
The town offers a variety of gastronomy and architectural sights along the route. However, before you leave Sendenhorst behind you, you should make a stop at the observation tower "am Himmelreich". This offers visitors a magnificent view over the town and the Münsterland park landscape. Here you can recharge your batteries.
On the following kilometres you will cycle through a picturesque landscape with many small streams. Enjoy the view of the typical Münsterland farming communities before you meet the Werse again shortly before Ahlen, which you follow to the starting point of this route. Due to its length and the numerous charging stations along the route, the cycle tour is also suitable for e-bikes.
If you have time for a little detour on your bike tour, you should definitely stop by the Westfalen coll iery. More than 100 years ago, it was not only one of the most modern mines in the area, but also the deepest. It went down to a depth of over 1 km. Here you can experience history, culture, leisure activities and much more. Immerse yourself in industrial culture...
