Altenberge

From the Altenberg ridge, enjoy a magnificent panoramic view of the Münsterland, the hilly Baumberge hills and the legendary Teutoburg Forest. Due to its location, Altenberge offers very good conditions for exploring numerous sights in Münsterland.

Altenberge: In the middle of Münsterland

Centuries-old farms, hedgerows and isolated weirs make up the charm of the landscape around Altenberge. This makes the municipality in the middle of Münsterland an attractive destination for a short holiday or ideal as a stopover on a cycling tour. Excursions to the sewage fields near Münster or to the impressive Hülshoff Castle are wonderful from here. But not only cyclists are welcome: The municipality of Altenberge also invites you to go hiking and horseback riding. This is a particularly popular destination for riders - after all, the "Integrative Riding Trail", which is unique in Germany, was created here in 2004.

Large selection of museums

The ice cellar of the former Beuing brewery is something special. This can be visited, of course, and is a pleasant place to cool down on a hot summer's day! A visit should definitely be on your agenda. The Kittken local history museum, the geo museum and the tractor and equipment museum are also interesting excursion destinations.

We have tested the ice cellar for you

The ice cellar in Altenberge: The underground cellars of the former brewery, where the ice was stored for cooling and the barrels for fermentation and maturing, extend over several floors. Our colleagues Victoria and Eva and a group of Münsterland newcomers took a look around. You can find out what they learned on a guided tour on the MünsterlandBlog.
