Ascheberg

Ascheberg is not one of the most popular holiday resorts in Münsterland for nothing. At the junction between Münster and the imposing castles of the southern Münsterland, there are excellent holiday opportunities for travellers.

Embedded in the Münsterland park landscape, Ascheberg presents its pretty townscape. Much greenery dominates the surroundings, while the town centre with its small shops and restaurants presents itself in typical red clinker brick.

Rich in Westphalian cultural heritage

There are 18 castles, fortresses and manor houses in the vicinity of Ascheberg. Among them are Westerwinkel Castle in Herbern and Nordkirchen Castle, the "Westphalian Versailles". The famous master builder Johann Conrad Schlaun was involved not only in the construction of these buildings, but also in the decoration of the chancel of the Ascheberg church in 1740. Ascheberg also leaves nothing to be desired in terms of leisure and recreation: whether golfing, inline skating or cycling. Westerwinkel Castle can be combined with Nordkirchen Castle and Vischering Castle in Lüdinghausen on a cycling tour .

Nature around the community

Hikers will also find the best conditions in Ascheberg. For example, in the local recreation area "Davert", which stretches all the way to Münster. The deep oak forests show the Münsterland from its mysterious side. In addition, the newly opened Way of St. James invites pilgrims.
