On the way from Beckum towards Oelde, the tour passes through the village of Vellern. If you look around carefully, you may notice that this village is particularly chic. Vellern was one of the winners of the state competition "Our village shall become more beautiful" and has since been called a "gold village". Once you arrive in Oelde, you are spoilt for choice. For families, the children's museum "Klipp Klapp" offers a nice opportunity to leave the bikes behind for a while. The museum's interactive concept on the topics of water, grain and food production makes children's eyes light up. For those travelling without children, the Potts Beer Museum might be just the thing. Here the Westphalian brewing tradition is shown in historical change.
On the way out of town, the route takes you past Stromberg Castle. The picturesque castle complex is a popular destination for excursions for good reason. If you feel like a little diversions, you can also make a stop at Haus Nottbeck , which is located just outside the centre of Oelde. The former knight's estate exudes both stately flair and rural ambience and is thus wonderfully suited for a short relaxation break. The route continues through the municipality of Wadersloh, past Crassenstein Castle. However, the moated castle in Renaissance style is privately owned and can therefore only be visited from the outside.
Afterwards, the route continues on flat paths back to Beckum, where the day can end in the "Phoenix" local recreation area. The renaturalised quarry with a lake, playgrounds, climbing wall, mini-golf and skateboard facilities and other attractions offers something for everyone to do with the rest of the afternoon.
