Fate seems to have something planned for Bill and Willa. In any case, it snowballs on the couple who fell in love decades ago, leaving them stuck in an airport overnight. Immediately that crackle from back at college seems to be in the air again. But the night is still young. As the hours pass, the two of them are confronted with increasingly painful memories and the question of what their lives would be like now if things had been very different back then. And at some point, Willa and Bill actually wonder whether this meeting is not just pure coincidence, but a twist of fate...
You will find our small, association-run museum in the heart of Coesfeld's old town centre (near the market square / Lamberti Church / Walkenbrückentor). Our barrier-free rooms are located behind the listed, classicist façade of an old manufacturer's townhouse. The former brewery was located directly behind it. Today, the Coesfeld public library is located there and you can reach us through the entrance foyer.
Our historical toy collection features dolls from the 1800s onwards - made of papier-mâché, wax, wood, porcelain and celluloid. We also have wooden and tin toys, optical and technical toys, such as old steam engines, which shed light on the history of play and bring back memories. In particular, the numerous historical doll's houses and merchants' shops tell of everyday life - of living, learning and working - in times gone by.
Under the motto "Meet and Eat", the Feierabendmarkt offers the opportunity to ring in the well-earned end of the day in a cosy atmosphere. The market traders spoil visitors with culinary delights such as a good drop of wine or beer from the brewery as well as tasty treats and flavours from the barbecue. Musical entertainment is also provided.
The Saturday market takes place in the pedestrian zone Letter Straße in front of the Jakobikirche.
The market stalls are open for you from 8 am to 1.30 pm.
Sustainability is one of the most important issues of our time. This is why we are organising this market. We want to offer as many people as possible a platform to present themselves or obtain information. The topics covered include food, mobility, energy, clothing, cleaning products and much more. The regional reference should be in the foreground.
The town museum is located in the listed Walkenbrückentor, the last remaining gate of Coesfeld's medieval town fortifications. The modernised permanent exhibition in the striking museum building shows the exciting highs and lows of the history of the town and its inhabitants over several floors. Admission is free of charge.
The former synagogue is a memorial and place of remembrance for Jewish history in and around Coesfeld. The listed building dates back to 1810 and inside, a replica of a Torah shrine, a women's gallery and a media wall recall the varied history of the building and local Jewish life. Admission is free of charge.
